What is an ENT?
An Otolaryngologist / Head and Neck Surgeon (ENT) is a physician and surgeon who has specialized training to treat a diverse range of conditions and disorders of the head and neck. From the simple sore throat to the complex facial fractures, ENTs treat most everything in the ear, nose, throat and neck area. This specialized training requires an additional five years of intensive study beyond medical school.
What lead Dr. Daneshrad to become an ENT over other medical specialties?
As an ENT, Dr. Daneshrad is able to treat patients of all ages with virtually any issue in the head and neck region. In the same day, Dr. Daneshrad may treat a child for a sore throat, an adult for chronic sinus issues, an athlete for a facial fracture, and a model for a cosmetic rhinoplasty.
What are the primary surgical services provided by an ENT?
In general, ENTs perform any surgery that is needed in the head and neck region. This list includes, tonsillectomy, septoplasty, sinus surgery, balloon sinus dilation, rhinoplasty, facial fracture repair, skin cancer reconstruction, and facelift surgery.
When should a patient see an ENT over a primary care physician?
Over half of all visits to a primary care physician are for ENT related reasons. Whether its a stuffy nose, a sore throat, ear pain, or snoring, whenever the patient feels that medication alone is no longer helping or that the response to medical treatment is short-lived, a visit to an ENT specialist is warranted.
What can I expect during an ENT appointment?
During an ENT appointment, a patient should plan to give a thorough recounting of their medical history and their current symptoms. Based on the patient’s symptoms, Dr. Daneshrad will perform a full head and neck exam followed by any other diagnostic examinations deemed necessary based on the symptoms and the exam findings.
